KELLI ANN C. KIMURA

I am a Japanese-Uchinanchu scholar born and raised on O‘ahu and currently based on Tongva and Acjachemen land. As a PhD Candidate in sociology at the University of California, Irvine, I am also pursuing a graduate emphasis in Asian American Studies and a Graduate Feminist Emphasis. I have broad research interests in race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and food studies. My dissertation, entitled What We Eat, Who We Are: Food, Identity, and Community Among Asian Americans, investigates the role of food and foodways in identity maintenance and formation for Asian Americans, with a focus on how these processes differ across life stages and gender.

In addition to writing academic books and articles, I also co-edit The Recipes Project, a quarterly online publication devoted to recipe studies of all kinds.
